The Hoya Model
The Lower Saxony Institute of Sport History at Hoya (NISH), which has been established in 1981, has achieved exemplary status regarding any kind of regional research in the field of sport in Germany. Its main activities are researching and recording the development of sport in both Lower Saxony and the surrounding Northern German regions. In this field the institute has acted as a pioneer and has received regional as well as nationwide recognition. In the field of regional sport research the Hoya Model certainly has exemplary character and is pointing the way ahead for others to follow.
