Source Research
The research focus on Lower Saxony sport history and the creation of necessary preconditions for further research projects made it neccessary to tap the multitude of sources of sport histoy beyond purely coincidental findings. For this purpose a stock-taking has been conducted since 1984 - all archives, museums and libraries of Lower Saxony were and are still being systematically evaluated. Any information or object pertaining to the multiple aspects of the development of sport is being analyzed.
At the Hoya institute the research results are being recorded, systematized, and electronically processed. The intention is not to centralize the original documents at Hoya, but to ascertain the location and the extent of, and the points of access to the historical sources. There remains the option to deposit archive or exhibition material with the institute or even donate it, though.
